Fabled Roots is an RPG-lite Minecraft data pack that adds 10 unique races and 10 different classes, together with new weapons, armor, spell scrolls, NPCs and structures. When you first join a world, you choose a race and a class to shape your playstyle. Races change things like your size, movement and strengths in certain biomes, while classes give you a small perk and extra experience for doing what that class enjoys. Everything is designed to add to the classic Minecraft loop without getting in the way.
The data pack is currently published only on Modrinth. All required assets are included in the data pack and can also be used as a resource pack. An automatically converted mod version is also available. You can download it here: Fabled Roots on Modrinth
The resource pack is required for textures, sounds and translations. When using the mod version in singleplayer worlds, the data pack does not need to be loaded as a resource pack. However, when using the mod version on a server, you must either include the assets from the data pack in your server's resource pack or instruct players to install the mod locally.
When you join a world with Fabled Roots for the first time, the race selection menu opens automatically. After picking a race, you choose your class and receive that class's starter equipment. Until a race is chosen, the menu keeps opening.
You can change your choices later with Reset Roots, which costs 100 Experience Levels. More information can be found on the Player Menu page.
