Rarity Mobs are hostile mobs that are promoted to one of four rarities: Common, Rare, Legendary or Mythic. They have more health, carry a randomly generated name in the color of their rarity, are surrounded by particles and drop special loot instead of their normal drops. Each rarity can be configured separately in the Rarity Mobs menu.
A mob has to stay loaded for a short time after spawning before it can get a rarity (60 seconds by default). Once that time has passed, the mob rolls once for each rarity in the following order: Mythic, Common, Rare, Legendary. The first successful roll decides its rarity. If every roll fails, the mob stays a normal mob.
By default, only mobs that spawn in a spot where they can see the sky can become Rarity Mobs. This can be changed with the Scaling/Rarity Only On Surface setting in the Miscellaneous menu.
The following mobs can become Rarity Mobs by default (entity tag #mob_manager:valid_for_rarity):
Blaze, Bogged, Breeze, Cave Spider, Creeper, Drowned, Evoker, Ghast, Guardian, Hoglin, Husk, Illusioner, Parched, Piglin, Piglin Brute, Pillager, Ravager, Skeleton, Spider, Stray, Vindicator, Witch, Wither Skeleton, Zoglin, Zombie, Zombified Piglin

Rarity Mobs drop the loot table of their rarity instead of their normal drops. Any equipment they wear still drops based on its drop chance.
