The Villager menu contains settings for Villagers and their villages that go beyond the general mob settings found in the Passive Mobs menu. Villagers can get random names, talk to players, bring a pet, and name the meeting point of their village.
Villagers spawn with a random first and last name that fits their biome type. The name is colored based on the biome type:
| Biome Type | Name Color |
|---|---|
| Desert | FFF382 |
| Jungle | 61FF4F |
| Plains | D5E0DD |
| Savanna | E08C6E |
| Snow | 82C7E0 |
| Swamp | AB7D5E |
| Taiga | E0FEFF |
| Deep Blue | 148E96 |
Villagers spawning in the Deep Blue dimension of Katters Structures use their own set of names.
When a player interacts with a Villager, the Villager responds with a random line that fits their biome type. There are 250 different lines for each of the 7 biome types. The message can be shown in the Action Bar or in the Chat, or turned off completely.
Talking to a Villager of each of the 7 biome types grants the advancement Small Talk.
When an adult Villager spawns, there is a chance it brings a pet that is tamed to it:
| Pet | Chance |
|---|---|
| Wolf | 40% |
| Cat | 40% |
| Parrot | 20% |
When enabled, baby Villagers get a random biome type instead of inheriting it from their parents. This makes it possible to breed Villagers of every biome type in a single village.
When enabled, Villagers can restock their trades as often as they want instead of being limited to two restocks per day.
When disabled, Villagers forget all gossip, so their prices are no longer affected by curing them or by hurting other Villagers.
When Villagers Name Their Meeting Point is enabled, every village bell that Villagers use as their meeting point gets a random name based on the biome it is in. The name floats above or below the bell, and the bell is marked with particles. Village names are picked from 200 names for each of the following biome groups:
Plains, Forest, Desert, Snow, Mountains, Taiga, Savanna, Swamp, Jungle, River, Ocean, Caves, Cherry Grove, Mushroom Fields, Nether, End, Deep Blue
When a player comes within 96 blocks of a named meeting point, the name of the village is displayed. It can be shown as a Title, in the Action Bar or in the Chat. When shown as a Title, the screen also briefly gets a cinematic letterbox effect (requires the resource pack). The message is shown again after the player has moved more than 128 blocks away and comes back.
When Players Can Rename Meeting Point is enabled, players can rename a village by ringing its bell while holding a Name Tag in their main hand:
The Name Tag is consumed unless the player is in Creative Mode.
Mobs near a named meeting point receive Regeneration. By default, this only works during the day and affects Villagers, Wandering Traders, Iron Golems, Snow Golems, Cats, Wolves, mounts and players (entity tag #mob_manager:valid_for_village_healing).
Named meeting points are shown on the Locator Bar as a bell icon. The color and range of this icon can be changed in the Villager menu.
